Description

This traditional LED outdoor PIR wall lantern with manual override facility in black and rated IP54 is manufactured from rust proof polycarbonate. Integral 8w cool white LED’s give 400 lumens of light. Switch the power on and off twice within a 3 second period to enable the manual override facility.

All polycarbonate construction with a traditional black finish lantern and frosted panels. Integral PIR movement sensor with a range of up to 10m when mounted at 2.4m high.

Once you have signed for your order the goods are at your risk and so we ask you to check the contents thoroughly. Please keep any packaging should your order need to be returned.

Returns & Refunds +

You have the right to cancel the contract within 14 working days, beginning with the day after the item is delivered. This applies to all of our products except those made, modified or personalised to your specification. We may accept returns after the 14 day period under certain circumstances subject to a restocking fee.

To return goods, please contact the customer care team on 0151 650 2138 or email customercare@universal-lighting.co.uk We will send you a returns request form to complete for allocation of a returns number. Goods returned under your statutory right are at your cost.
The goods returned must not have been installed, used or modified in any way and must be returned together with any lamps or parts that were included in your order.

We will meet the cost of return for carriage on all faulty goods as long as the goods returned conform to the relevant regulations. We are not liable for any costs incurred for the installation or removal of any fitting supplied, or any other financial loss howsoever caused. We recommend that you do not book your electrician until you have received, checked and are happy with your purchase.

Refunds Policy

Universal Lighting Services Ltd will refund within 14 days any sum that has been debited from the customer’s credit card or by any other payment method, for any goods that are unavailable for whatever reason or returned in accordance with our Returns Policy.

Damages

In the unlikely event that a product arrives and the packaging appears damaged in any way, it is important that you sign for the delivery as unchecked or damaged. Once you have taken delivery and signed for your purchase it belongs to you and any risk has passed over. It is important that you check your delivery as soon as possible and in any case within 48 hours, even if you do not intend to have it installed for some time. Any damage or shortages in your delivery must be reported to us within 48 hours otherwise your claim may be rejected.

All damages or shortages will be corrected to your satisfaction as soon as possible with either a replacement part or complete fitting at no cost to you.

does it come on in daylight or does it also have a light sensor?

A:

These Traditional LED Outdoor PIR Wall Lanterns will not activate during the day whilst in PIR mode. If you use the manual override though, they will stay on until changed back to the sensor.

Is the on/off switch for the manual override part of the unit or is a separate switch required to be wired in?

A:

These fittings don’t come with a physical switch on them to change modes, this would be done by a wall switch being turned on and off 3 times in rapid succession to change the mode from PIR to Override.

How bright is the light? 400 lumens is equivalent to 40 watts so seems a bit dim?

A:

400lumens is roughly equivalent to an incandescant 40w light bulb and will give a pleasant ambient light.

This security light is designed to be mounted between 2m and 2.5m for optimum performance. The lower it is mounted, the shorter the  detection range will be.

Yes, the lantern can be wired to any switch, and can be overridden for permanent on / off using your existing switch

this lantern has the manual override facility, you wire it to a switch, flick the switch on and off twice within 3 seconds and it stays permanently on, repeat the switching to set it to sensor mode again

These lanterns have integrated LEDs and are not replaceable. We do supply other lanterns which do have replaceable bulbs, but they do not have the manual override facility.

This is the product you require which has the manual override facility, this means you can have it permanently on or off and also it can work on sensor mode and is controlled via a remote switch

Can the duration that the light stays on and the amount of light before it operates be adjusted?

The light will only operate during the hours of darkness and is not adjustable. The light will stay on as long as it detects movement. When the movement stops, the light will switch itself off after 60 seconds.

I’m looking to purchase this item. I have a question regarding the manual override. Is this the type you have to flick the switch 3x rapidly to get the light to stay on or can you simply just use it as a normal light switch?

The manual override facility on this security lantern is achieved by flicking the switch on and off as described.

Can I buy this with a daylight bulb installed?

Hi Sam, Many thanks for your question. Unfortunately not, the fitting is supplied with cool white integrated LEDs and are not replaceable. Perhaps consider a PIR lantern with replaceable bulbs. You will then be able to utilise daylight bulbs as desired.
